Economy – Ports & logistics
Egypt has 15 commercial ports handling about 106 million tons of cargo, and 3.4 million passengers.

Imported cargo through Egyptian ports reached 2.4 million tons and exported cargo reached 2.1 million tons (August 2007).

Large portion of world maritime trade passes through Suez Canal (USD 3.5 billion in the FY 2005/06.

Egypt’s major ports include Alexandria, Dekheila, Damietta, Port Said, and port Suez.

El Sokhna Port, a totally electronic-managed port established at the southern part of the Suez Canal, has been developed with a total investment of EGP3.4 billion and is managed by the private sector.
